Constructed in 1967, Nicollet Mall has been a commercial success for the city of Minneapolis, but, the original materials could not withstand Minnesota’s harsh climate. As part of a renovation that took place in 1992, artist Brad Goldberg was hired to design a streetscape that would help blend Nicollet Mall with its surroundings and incorporate more durable materials, such as granite.

The Minneapolis Beautiful Project included Radiant Red® benches and planters into the streetscape of downtown’s Nicollet Mall.
