The LEED Gold certified Fairfax County Public Safety Headquarters not only consolidated several public safety functions that were dispersed across the country, but also serves as the site to Police and Fire memorials. The Police department memorial, created in Cold Spring Black granite and the Fire memorial, created in Echo Lake^® are prominently displayed in from of the building to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. To achieve LEED Gold status the building is the county’s first large facility to use energy-efficient LED lighting, green roofs, permeable pavers, and stormwater bio filter. Low-plumbing fixtures and eco-smart environmental controls also add to the building’s sustainability.
